These are unusual times, unprecedented even – we certainly have heard those words enough since the Coronavirus started to impact our daily lives earlier this year. Victoria suffered 2 waves of infections and after many days of restrictions the active numbers are now down to a point that ‘doughnuts’ days now dominate and our delayed competition season is now a reality.

But the news is mixed.

On the one hand, we now have the Charter up and going and both the senior (men and women) and junior competition starting last weekend or this coming weekend. We have also received grants and discounts from CoGG and Baseball Victoria to assist the club in these challenging times.

On the other hand, no Geelong- Korea games, no Doosan Bears training, no Australian Junior Championships, significant shortfall in sponsorships, reduced fundraiser opportunities - and we still we need to invest heavily in implementing hygiene controls and cover services and competition costs.

Forecasting a budget for this season has been a challenge but it is most likely to be below the line.

It is for this reason, and hopefully for this season only, Baycats Committee are reaching out to our valued members and supporters to become ‘Baycats Covid Champions’. Upon a donation of $50, a certificate of appreciation will be forwarded to you and your generosity will be recognized on our Facebook page. Any number of Certificates can be ‘bought’ and donations of any amount would be welcomed.

With Covid-19 restrictions easing in Geelong, Baycats have begun training. To comply with Baseball Victoria's instructions we much train in groups to record names for contact tracing.

As such, all Geelong Baycats players intending to train this season MUST must register to “return to training” with SportsTG using the following link:

If you are a returning player, use the email address and password you used last Summer to register. If you are a new player or no longer have access to your old email address, please create a new account.

Choose the name of the participant to register, fill in or change any personal information necessary. You will have the option to choose:

BV Player, Club Volunteer, Committee Member or Club Coach – all are free.

Continue to fill out the document. Tick the BA and BV policy boxes and submit your registration. You will receive a registration confirmation via email.

You will then be added to a training group and notified via Team App for training times.

No player can take the field to train until they are registered.

All Senior Men, Women, U16 and U18 Players should then join "Team App" for Geelong Baycats Baseball. You will find all club information there
